Legendary Marvel – New Expansions Cover Art

This was a pretty cool find over the weekend.

The massive delays in the release of Marvel Legendary: Annihilation have made Upper Deck indicate that they are going to be releasing all of the scheduled 2021 expansions even though the first one isn’t coming out until maybe September (if that).

Can they do that?

I have trouble seeing it, but maybe?

Anyway, one of the announced expansions for 2021 is Messiah Complex, based apparently on one of the mutant storylines from years past (can you tell I haven’t followed the comics much?)

Bageltop Games posted on Boardgame Geek that he found the cover artwork on Cardhaus Games’ site.

This, of course, does seem to indicate at least some of the mutant heroes that will be in the expansion (hopefully they wouldn’t mislead on that).

Looks pretty cool, eh?

Here’s the solicit for it, which also may give you some ideas.

The decimation of mutants has come to pass and the enemies of the remaining X-Men never rest! In this new Legendary expansion based on the popular Marvel crossover story arc, you will join the ranks of the surviving mutant heroes in a race against new Masterminds and Villains to find a very special child who represents hope for mutants. Play with new schemes and a wealth of content with this 200-card deluxe expansion, which includes the return of sidekicks, back by popular demand. On the verge of extinction and battered by villains, it is up to you to save mutantkind!

  • 27th Expansion to the vast Legendary Landscape!
  • New content: 8 Heroes! 3 Masterminds! 4 Villain groups! 2 Henchmen groups! 4 Schemes, 7 Special Sidekicks, and 3 Special Bystanders!
  • Players can work both with and against other players to defeat evil!
  • All cards contain original art!
  • Requires the Marvel Legendary Core Set to play

We have no idea who the heroes, masterminds, or villains will be, but the box cover seems to indicate the following:

Bastion, Shatterstar, Strong Guy, Warpath, Monet St. Croix and Multiple Man

I think I recognize a couple of those!

So thanks, Bageltop Games, for that information.

He does some great Legendary videos too, so check out his Youtube channel.

It’s weird that the Doctor Strange & the Shadows of Nightmare expansion was listed as coming out after Annihilation, but it seems that it’s not.

Who knows, with this totally screwed up shipping situation? (or whatever the problem is)

But I’m there when they do come out!

Speaking of Doctor Strange & the Shadows of Nightmare, here’s the box art for that!

Here’s the solicit for that.

“Hunting… Trapping… in the dream dimension, people are stalked by fear. Nightmare, an ageless demon who rules this realm is collecting dream energy from humans and placing the entire world under extradimensional threats from him and his villains. Team up with wondrous heroes and the Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange in this new Legendary expansion where you’ll race to power up your deck with the legendary defender before feeding the dream-stalking enemy with unstoppable power!

Doctor Strange returns to Legendary bringing more mystic heroes to join the vast pool of amazing super-heroes!”

So far, the following Heroes have been confirmed, at least from the solicit (so maybe not?):

The Ancient One, Brother Voodoo, Clea, Doctor Strange, the Vishanti

Nightmare will probably be one of the Masterminds (especially given the cover art).

Both expansions look pretty cool.

Are you a Legendary fan? Does this sound interesting to you?
