Review Copy Guidelines
I’d Like You to Review My Game!
That’s great to hear, and I would love to do it.
There are a few things to keep in mind before contacting me about reviewing your game.
- Unfortunately, I am not able to do Print and Play games, so please have at least a prototype you can send me if not the full game. I am Canadian and would prefer to have it sent to me here. However, I do have a way to get something sent to me in the US, so keep that in mind too.
- Please have a page for your game on Boardgame Geek. This is most important if you haven’t published the game yet, as I am happy to review upcoming games.
- What games will I review? The best ones are games for 2-4 players that take up to 2 hours maximum. More time than that, it’s hard to get them to the table consistently. If it is a 2-player only game, it needs to be playable in under 60 minutes.I cannot review RPGs, Party Games, or pure Storytelling games. I just don’t have a group that will play them.
- If your game is coming out on Kickstarter, please link to my review on your Kickstarter page.
- Please let me know if there’s an expected time frame for the review (game’s coming out on Kickstarter, we’d like it ready for when the game is published, whatever). Otherwise, I will do my best to be quick, but I try to play a game at least three times before reviewing it (unless it’s a very light game in which case I might do it after two plays) and the way my game group works, a super-quick turnaround time is pretty much impossible.The exception to that are quick 2-player games, which can be done a lot sooner than longer games.
- I do take pictures of the games I play for posting to social media, so please let me know if that is an issue with you. If it’s a preview of a prototype or a version that’s not final, I will emphasize that in the review. However, if you don’t want pictures published, please tell me.
Do you review board game apps?
I enjoy most board game apps and would love to review yours.
A couple of things to note, though:
- I only can do Steam and iOS and iOS is preferred (though if you’re only coming out on Steam, I’d still be happy to look at it and see if I can review it)
- For multiplayer, asynchronous multiplayer is nearly a must, though if you don’t have it, there may be a chance I can still do it. I have limited opportunities for live multiplayer, though. If your game doesn’t have multiplayer or it’s not a major part of the game, then this doesn’t apply and I’d still be happy to do it.
More may be added to this page as time goes on, but this is a good start.
