A Gaming Life
One thing you cannot say about Asmodee Digital is that they are goofing off.
Unless you count playing games as goofing off, in which case I’m done with you.
Yesterday, I posted my review of the wonderful Onirim digital adaptation yesterday, and they’re already back for more!
Also yesterday, the 2-player card game Jaipur was released for iOS and Android. It has an introductory price of $2.99, but who knows how long that will last? Remember Onirim’s 99 cent introductory price was also supposed to be temporary. Not sure when that will go up.
I have heard wonderful things about Jaipur so it was an instant download. I don’t even have first impressions of the game yet, but I wanted to let you know considering how well-regarded the game is and how temporary the price might be.
I will post more about it when I have played it some, but the list of features is pretty cool:
Jaipur includes:
• A faithful adaptation of Sebastien Pauchon’s original Jaipur game
• Online cross-platform 2 player mode
• Local pass & play mode
• Solo play against 3 difficulty levels of AI
• An extensive campaign mode
• All new artwork by Vincent Dutrait
• Detailed, interactive, turn-by-turn, in-game tutorial.
• Achievement tracking
• No in-app purchases or ads
• Languages available: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish.
Sadly, it seems that the multiplayer is not asynchronous, but I don’t know whether async would even be possible in this game. Still, it does mean I probably won’t be playing online.
Also in the Boardgame Geek announcement thread where I first saw that Jaipur was out is word that Asmodee Digital is working on a new game that should be out soon.
Harald is a 2-4 player card game that came out in 2015.
Ah, heck. I’ll let Boardgame Geek tell you more about it:
From BGG:
Harald has finally unified the different kingdoms and become the King of this powerful nation. With the newly established peace, the different peoples are going to war on a different battle field: one of intrigue and struggles for influence. Send your emissary to the King’s Council to win his favor so your village becomes the most prestigious.
Harald is game of influence and majority. As the head of a village, each player will try to charm the most influential character of the realm to be noticed by the king and obtain his favor. But to win you will need to think and use wisely the abilities of each character.
Right now, they’re accepting applications to beta test the game, so head on over to sign up (you must have an Asmodee Digital account, and make sure you sign in to it before you go to the link).
Who knows what Asmodee Digital may be doing next?
Hint: they probably do, but they may be the only ones!
