A Gaming Life
Hey!
I see you over there, enjoying your Friday and knowing that the weekend is just around the corner.
How about I add a bit of horror to your celebratory Friday?
No, not an 8 x 10 picture of me. I’m not that mean to my readers.
I’m talking about today’s announcement from Plaid Hat Games of a new game coming this year.
Designed by Dan Blanchett with art by Mikhail Palamarchuk and Tony Sart, this 2-4 player game is a sequel of sorts to Mary Shelley’s classic novel, Frankenstein. The game takes place approximately 20 years after that novel.
It’s Friday, heading into a convention weekend, so let’s just blurb this and save some time.
“Plaid Hat Games is proud to announce Abomination, a game based on Mary Shelley’s immortal novel Frankenstein. Set twenty years after the events in the book, each player will take on the role of an up-and-coming scientist, racing to become the first to create a viable companion for their strange new patron.”
What do you do in this game?
You’re basically trying to create a monster (like I did when I created this blog!).
You’ll be sending your assistants far and wide to collect the latest scientific findings and…um…”resources” that will help you build another creature for your mysterious patron.
You put that all together back in the lab, but you have to be fast because body parts don’t last forever! (Believe me, I know…I mean, I’ve heard).
Hopefully none of your assistants are like this guy.
There’s a lot more information in the post, so I encourage you to go read it.
The game’s available for pre-order for $59.95 from Plaid Hat, and if you order from them, apparently you get free shipping.
No word that I could find on exactly when this is supposed to come out, however.
But at least it’s not on Kickstarter!
Sound interesting?
Then what are you waiting for?
I’m going to be following this game. The theme looks great – as always by Plaid Hat. But I want to see the reception before I commit. What looks interesting to me is that there is going to be some form of “crossroads” cards.

It does look pretty cool. I’ll be keeping an eye out for it and am definitely interested in trying it out.
Or could even review it, Plaid Hat (hint hint)
And Crossroads type cards? I didn’t even notice that part!
