Nomad Games to Add a New Expansion to Smash Up App
Yesterday, I received an email from Nomad Gamesthat made me very excited.
No, it wasn’t a new Talisman: Origins expansion or anything like (though I do love getting early access to those!).
No, they announced that the Smash Up app is going to be getting the next expansion!
Pretty Pretty Smash Up will be the second expansion after Awesome Level 9000 to be added to the app.
This expansion adds four new factions: Kitty Cats, Princesses, Fairies, and Mythic Horses (oh, the My Little Pony jokes have probably been worn out by now).
I do have the expansion, but I haven’t had a chance to play with them yet and do a review (review of Awesome Level 9000 coming soon, though!). I look forward to trying them out in the app!
As soon as we know what “soon” means. Maybe we’ll know soon?
Long-time readers of this blog may remember that I had a bit of a lukewarm reaction to the app, but I do have to say that it has improved quite a bit. It’s not as hard to play on the iPad as it was and the Steam version works really well.
While online play is still a virtual wasteland from what I’ve seen and I’m sad that asynchronous multiplayer isn’t in there (though while it might be difficult, I don’t know why it couldn’t happen), I have to say that I finally played online live and it’s a lot of fun!
If you have the time and the opponents, of course.
The great guys at Crit Camp Gaming were doing a live stream of it on a day that happened to coincide with a snow day up here in Vancouver so I was off work.
I was watching them play, and then they invited some of the chat members to join a bigger game. I jumped at the chance.
Got two games in! One 4-player and one 3-player and it worked very well.
Thanks to the guys for allowing me to play my first online game of Smash Up.
Anyway, really looking forward to trying this expansion out when it comes.
