June 2023 Gaming

With Father’s Day coming in June (here’s a link to the Father’s Day post I made in 2019, the first Father’s Day after my dad passed away), meaning that another Sunday Game Day was cancelled (or moved, but I chose to skip it), I figured that my June gaming would be just as bad, if not worse, then my May gaming.

But that wasn’t the case!

I actually got 20 plays in of 15 games, beating out last month by one play and four games.

I also played five “new to me” games, which I’ll be detailing in my monthly post later this weekend or early next week.

Here are the games I played in grid form (thanks to Boardgame Stats for these amazing statistics!)

A couple of things helped get me the increase.

More about that after the break.

And we’re back!

(Why do I feel like the Casey Kasem reruns on iHeart Radio where he goes to break and then immediately comes back?)

First, I got a couple of plays of one of my newest solo games (at least until I pick up the games I currently have at our US post box), Skies Above Britain.

Again, more on that game in my “new to me” post, but playing it twice certainly helped!

Secondly, I spent part of a lunch hour playing Sushi Go Party online with the amazing Ray from Czech Games Edition. On the CGE Twitch stream that day, she was playing Boardgame Arena games with people in the chat.

It was nice “meeting” her and some of the regulars in the chat, and gaming with them!

Even though I did feel slightly bad that I kept giving her bad cards. But I had too! I had two of the same card!

Good people in the chat as well, I have to say.

Anyway, the final thing that saved the month was two of the Sunday game days that actually happened had more people than usual, including people who brought games I haven’t played before.

That’s always a bonus!

It was nice to play Cat in the Box again…three times! Twice on lunch and once at last Sunday’s game day.

Review is forthcoming, maybe next week?

Last Sunday also brought Charioteer to the table for the first time in four months.

I finally got enough plays in to write the review.

What was the best part of the month, though?

Playing Combat Commander not just my one monthly play, but two more times!

I played my May opponent, Ted, in a pickup game and had an incendiary time.

And then just Tuesday night, Dwight agreed to play a game with me.

I had such an amazing time with both games.

What did you play in June?

I realize June isn’t over yet, but I won’t be getting another game in before the end of the month, so I figured “why not post it now?”

Have you played any of these? What did you think?

Let me know in the comments.

    • LOL sure, make me feel bad. 😛

I won’t be going to work in July, but I may be joining some other game days/nights, so hopefully the volume will be similar!
