Terraforming Mars Big Box Kickstarter is Live!
After much hullabaloo, and a really nice chat with Stronghold Games President Stephen Buonocore, the Terraforming Mars Big Box Kickstarter is now live!
And wow, is there some cool-looking stuff in there.
First, I’m very glad to see that there is a pledge level that’s just for the tiles and a box to carry them in. So if you already like your game storage solution, just spend $79 and get the tiles and their box.
You’ll be carrying two boxes around when you bring the game to game day, but both may be the equivalent of dragging the Big Box around anyway!
The base pledge of $99 gets you the whole Big Box thing but nothing else. No expansions, you will get the extra cards (three that look like they’re reissues of cards to change them slightly and give them a tile to put out on the map).
Of course, there are pledge levels to buy the game itself and its expansions too, so if you want to get in on the ground floor, you can do that.
$144 gets you the Big Box and the base game. $179 gets you the Big Box and all expansions. Or if you are totally new, $224 gets you everything.
As with the Turmoil Kickstarter, there will be an unlocked promo every day.
The first one is a new corporation!
This one looks pretty cool.
Hmmmm…Asteroid resources?
I’m not sure what those are. Unless it’s specific to this card and just lets you get Titanium with them.
Not sure.
As the image says, promos will be available separately at some point, which is good news and caused a lot of bother when this was first announced.
I’m backing this for $1 to get the updates, but I hope the two guys in our game group buy this.
Because this looks seriously cool.

I am not sure about this KS. True, that is completely different experience, all in one place plus great components. But you have the feeling this is just a way to get the money from your wallet.. If you do not have the game though this is fantastic deal.

I can understand that, but really if a ton of people are asking for it (and it seems that they are considering how much money it’s already made), it’s kind of hard to say anything against it.
But yeah, that is a lot of money.

True, if there is a demand then KS seems like a good idea – if there will be enough people willing to fund, it should be successful. Let us see anyhow!
